Green Gas Mobility Summit, the event organised by Gasnam-Neutral Transport that analyses the value chain of renewable gases, from production and logistics to their final use as a vector for the decarbonisation of transport, will reopen its doors on 3 and 4 July at La Nave (Madrid). This new edition will address various topics such as the demanding regulatory framework we face to decarbonise the economy and its implications for transport, the opportunities and challenges associated with biomethane, hydrogen and its derivatives, and the challenges posed by new fuels, among others.

Regulation, market, opportunities and challenges of new renewable and synthetic fuels

The decarbonisation of heavy transport by land, sea and air is fundamental to achieve a carbon neutral economy, which is why it is subject to a demanding regulatory framework that we will update and explain at the Green Gas Mobility Summit. We will also discuss the regulatory treatment of new fuels, addressing the diversity of alternative fuels, and their implications for the energy transition.

As for renewable gases, our country is experiencing significant progress in their production, so we will try to shed light on the advances and challenges presented by their certification with mechanisms such as Guarantees of Origin and the Union DataBase, essential for the transparency and traceability of the sector. In addition, we will give a voice to the autonomous communities, whose stimulus policies and financial support are key to boosting biomethane and boosting local economic growth. We will also discuss strategic approaches to encourage investment in biomethane, hydrogen and its derivatives by examining current trends and innovative business models that are emerging in the sector.

In parallel, we will analyse the current challenges facing the production, transport and logistics of bio-LNG and hydrogen in the Iberian Peninsula, the strategies to promote their demand and the pioneering projects in the production of synthetic fuels, highlighting their role in shaping the future of mobility in a global energy transition.

In the international arena, in this edition we will present several success stories and best practices at international level, giving special prominence to Portugal and its Biomethane Strategy, an ambitious plan that marks a path towards the reduction of dependence on fossil fuels and the decarbonisation of the energy sector.

Renewable gases, drivers of change in land, sea and air transport

The upcoming Green Gas Mobility Summit will highlight developments in the road transport sector, with a special focus on the emerging role of biomethane and hydrogen as catalysts for change. Industry experts will discuss how logistics operators and shippers are leading the transition to cleaner mobility, as well as analyse the competitiveness and sustainability of new fuels (TCO) in passenger and freight transport, and municipal service vehicles. This approach will be complemented by the presentation of the new generation of bio-LNG and hydrogen heavy duty vehicles, as well as analysing the challenges and opportunities facing the development of the hydrogen network, which is key to promoting sustainable and efficient mobility.

In terms of challenges and opportunities in the maritime and aviation sectors, the conference will discuss how the adoption of alternative fuels is evolving rapidly in response to European and international legislation. Spanish ports will also explain how they are becoming multi-energy hubs and will detail how the Spanish fleet is decarbonising by incorporating low-emission and carbon-neutral fuels. In addition, we will discuss maritime corridors dedicated to the transport of hydrogen and its derivatives as an innovative solution to current logistical and regulatory challenges, and offer an insight into the degree of maturity of maritime propulsion technologies with new fuels.

The Green Gas Mobility Summit is not only a platform for dialogue and collaboration, but also a catalyst for change towards a cleaner and more sustainable future, offering an in-depth look at how renewable gases, such as biomethane, hydrogen and its derivatives, are transforming transport.
