- Alsa, Baleària, Carburos Metálicos, Dourogás, Grupo HAM, IVECO, Port de Barcelona, Redexis Renovables, Shell España and Volvo Trucks received awards in the ten categories recognised by the sustainable transport congress.
- The awards, which were presented last night in Madrid, recognise innovative initiatives that promote sustainability across the renewable gases and transport value chain.
- The awards were presented by representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, and the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
Within the framework of the reference event on sustainable transport in the Iberian Peninsula, Green Gas Mobility Summit, which is being held until today in La Nave (Madrid), Gasnam-Neutral Transport has presented the 3rd edition of the ‘Neutral Transport Innovation Awards’. These awards, which are given together with the Neutral Transport Technology Platform, seek to recognise, support and give visibility to innovative projects with the greatest potential for growth in the value chain of renewable gases, from production and distribution to their use in different modes of transport.
The winners in this 3rd edition were:
- Baleària, leading maritime operator in fleet decarbonisation. The congress jury highly valued Baleària’s outstanding role as the leading shipping company in Spain and a world leader in sustainability, thanks to its pioneering commitment to eco-efficient mobility in order to achieve zero emissions by 2050. The Secretary General for Air and Maritime Transport, Benito Núñez, presented the award to the Chairman of Baleària, Adolfo Utor.
- Port de Barcelona, for its commitment to alternative fuels to decarbonise port activity. The port authority has been recognised as an ‘Outstanding port in innovation and sustainability with new fuels’ for the innovative initiatives it has implemented to promote alternative fuels. The general manager of the Port of Barcelona, José Alberto Carbonell, received the award from the Secretary General for Air and Maritime Transport, Benito Núñez.
- Shell Spain, for its leadership in bunkering infrastructure for new fuels. The energy multinational, which is the leading company with more than 180 LNG bunkering operations in Spanish terminals since 2018, continues to work to welcome new marine fuels. Ilse Bienefent, DLNG Freigh Trader, and Elena Fernández, DLNG Commercial Operator of Shell, received the award from the Director General of Merchant Marine of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Gustavo Santana.
- Carburos Metálicos, for being the official hydrogen supplier of the 37th America’s Cup. The jury recognised the experience, wide range of turnkey solutions and commitment to sustainability of Air Products’ Spanish subsidiary, which won in the category of “Innovative maritime propulsion technology with new fuels”. The General Director of Merchant Marine of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Gustavo Santana, presented the award to Héctor Carbonell, Director of Hydrogen and Energy Transition at Carburos Metálicos.
- Volvo Trucks, for its commitment to mobility with bioGNL with its new Volvo FH Aero model, a long-haul truck designed to achieve greater aerodynamic efficiency. The Sales and Marketing Director of Volvo Trucks Spain, Daniel Saiz, received the award from the Deputy Deputy Director General for Energy Efficiency at the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Mar Blázquez.
- IVECO, winner of the best ‘Hydrogen-powered vehicle’ award for its new IVECO Bus E-Way, an innovative bus with fast hydrogen refuelling, high capacity and high efficiency. The General Director of Merchant Marine of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Gustavo Santana, presented the award to Fabrizio Toscano, Business Director Iberia of IVECO Bus.
- Alsa, recognised as ‘Outstanding initiative in the decarbonisation of road passenger transport’ for the actions implemented by the Asturian company to decarbonise road passenger transport in Zaragoza and its metropolitan area. The Deputy Assistant Director General for Energy Efficiency of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Mar Blázquez, presented the award to Miguel Ángel Alonso, Alsa’s Director of Engineering and European Funds Office.
- HAM Group, best ‘Biomethane production initiative’, for the first biomethane project in Spain for 100% vehicle use. The biomethane generated at its facility in Vilanant (Girona), from organic waste from the agri-food industry and a cattle farm, is distributed to its service stations. Toni Murugó, Deputy General Manager of the HAM Group, received the award from the Deputy Director General of Innovation Policies of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, Ignacio García Fenoll.
- Redexis Renovables, winner of the award for the best ‘Initiative for the production of renewable hydrogen and its derivatives’ for its innovative ‘H2 Duero’ project, the first green hydrogen production plant in Castilla y León, which will be able to produce up to 400 tons of renewable hydrogen per year for industrial and mobility uses. The Deputy Director General for Innovation Policies of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, Ignacio García Fenoll, presented the award to Redexis’ Director of Renewable Gases, Miguel Mayrata.
- Dourogás was the winner in the category of ‘Leading project in transport decarbonisation’ for the actions it is carrying out to incorporate more biomethane into the Portuguese grid and decarbonise end uses, including transport. The award was collected by João Filipe Jesus, head of Corporate Finance at Dourogás, from the Deputy Director General for Innovation Policies of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, Ignacio García Fenoll.
